8. What types of EMC membership are available?
Expert Medical Fellow
- For physicians with credentials required for approval by a trial court to give expert testimony in a specialty. However, active medico-legal case review is not required. Fellows are involved in testimony review for the purpose of evaluation of specialty standards of care.
Expert Medical Associate
- For physicians and specialists in practice who have completed specialty training and who seek regular medico-legal education offered by EMC. EMC Associates may or may not be credentialed as trial court witnesses. Associates may prefer to limit their activities to educational and research activities for EMC. Associates have access to the database of EMC for evidence-based information related to prior litigation.
Expert Medical Education Trainee
- For medical residents and specialists in training
- For medical students
- For registered nurses and allied health specialists in training
- Trainees have access to the educational malpractice avoidance modules of EMC and may have participation in EMC research activities
