10. What control does the Board of Governors have over the operation of EMC?

The Board of Governors operates as an advisory committee to the Board of Directors of EMC regarding general issues related to the medical malpractice arena.  The member organizations ofthe Board of Governors consist of governmental, insurance, defendant, and plaintiff organizations interested in the appropriate, non-biased expertmedical witness testimony process. Some members of this group may provide unrestricted research grants and other support to EMC.  This committee meets and communicates as a group via written group reports in recommendations to the Board of Directors.  However, none of these organizations have any representation on the EMC Board of Directors and all recommendations are deemed advisory and non-binding in nature.  Interaction between opposing entities in the medical malpractice arena at this level will insure balance to allparties in the medical-legal process.
